Visa Ban Targets Foreign Officials Who Censor Americans Online
In a first-of-its-kind policy, the State Department is using immigration law to punish global censorship of Americans.
WASHINGTON — The State Department, under Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has announced a new visa restriction policy last week targeting foreign nationals who engage in censorship of Americans. The move is aimed at foreign officials who attempt to punish U.S. citizens or residents for online speech made on American platforms while in the United States.
