Trump Admin Resumes Green Card Processing for Cuban Migrants
Policy shift offers relief to thousands of Cuban parolees, but uncertainty and risk of deportation remain.
WASHINGTON — The Trump administration has resumed issuing permanent residency cards to Cuban nationals who entered the country under humanitarian parole, marking a major shift in immigration policy after months of uncertainty for hundreds of thousands of migrants.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) confirmed on June 21 that it has begun producing Green Cards for applicants who arrived legally under the parole program on December 16. The move follows the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) decision to lift a suspension on asylum, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and status adjustment applications for individuals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.
