WASHINGTON — Senate negotiators are actively pursuing a plan to increase funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) by around 10% in the upcoming appropriations package, according to three sources familiar with the talks.
The proposed hike comes despite a congressional Republicans passing an historic $170 billion budget windfall for federal the immigration enforcement just six months ago and signals a widening fracture within the Democratic party on how to confront the Trump administration’s enforcement agenda.
