Just remember, they go by many names: MAGA, fundamentalist/evangelical, Dominionist, ‘Christian’/religious Nationalists, an alternative Catholic, which Pope Leo has rebuked Vance on, etc. As my caveat, only Jesus knows our hearts. Unlike, the organizations above, Jesus was not an elite white supremicist. He was a brown man. We are simply Christians.
I need to modify this and separate MAGA INTO MAGA - Protestant, MAGA - Catholic as well as other changes. This is a very informative interview! Thank you!
If it was a ‘joke’,which I don't believe it was, it was a joke in ver poor taste. Basically the joke was threatening the life of the Pope and the independence of the Papacy!
Perhaps, having a Christian as Pope ( not unlike Francis), they can easily connect the dots to what happened in the 1920s and 1930s in Germany. Not only to Jews, but to Catholics as well. Take Edith Stein or Maximilian Kolbe. (Who was sent to Auschwitz in May 1941 for his active resistance against the Nazi occupation, specifically for hiding and providing aid to Jewish refugees and Polish underground members at his monastery in Niepokalanów. He was arrested by the Gestapo, having been a target for his outspoken, anti-Nazi publications.) Sound familiar? Pope Leo is not waiting to become a footnote. St. Francis began a new view of the Church and worship. The IMITATION OF CHRIST , like Mother Teresa was so found of saying. It's not just talking ( Bible study) or sitting in a pew. Jesus was not old Testament.
