Jayapal Holds Shadow Hearings to Expose "Lawless" Trump Immigration Policies

Democrats warn of due process collapse and authoritarian drift in U.S. immigration courts.

WASHINGTON — In a bold attempt to spotlight what she calls the “lawless” immigration policies of the Trump administration, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) has launched a series of shadow hearings in the U.S. Capitol, aiming to document and resist what advocates and lawmakers describe as a systematic dismantling of due process for immigrants.

“Since taking office in January, President Trump has shown nothing but utter contempt for the Constitution,” Jayapal said during a recent June 26th session titled Kidnapped and Disappeared: Trump’s Lawless Third Country Disappearances. “He has attacked the rights of all people, starting with and especially immigrants.”
