WASHINGTON — A recent case involving a Honduran teenager removed from a Florida foster home and transferred to federal immigration custody has ignited debate over whether U.S. immigration authorities are targeting undocumented children in foster care for deportation.
The incident, first reported by the Miami Herald, centers on a 17-year-old identified only as Henry, who was reportedly taken from his foster home in Pensacola and handed over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). According to the report, the teenager had previously lived in dire conditions, was possibly a victim of labor trafficking, and had been placed in state care following concerns about his safety.
