House Republicans Push Bill to Increase Criminal Penalties for Fleeing From Law Enforcement

Ciscomani's latest anti-immigrant bill would impose harsh penalties on those fleeing law enforcement near the U.S.-Mexico border, including deportation and lifelong immigration bans.

WASHINGTON — A new bill, H.R. 35, also known as the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act, has been introduced in Congress to increase penalties for individuals who flee from federal law enforcement while driving within 100 miles of the U.S. border.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Juan Ciscomani and and co-sponsored by 31 House Republican, aims to enhance border security and law enforcement safety by making such actions a federal crime with severe consequences.
