Re: what happens if ICE simply doesn’t comply with state law?

Well you do what you always do to people who break the law: you arrest them, you take mug shots and finger prints and you leave them with an arrest record, and hopefully a conviction record. If we are lucky even jail time. I’m curious if once you take their prints you will find these thugs already have existing criminal records.

It’s a crazy time. We have changed, and we need to change more coming out the other end.

It’s not enough to whine anymore. We have to make demands in order to get the action we need. And we do need action. We are the greatest, richest, most powerful country ever seen on this earth. Every other industrialized nation has found a way to afford to provide for the common man. It’s laughable to say we cannot achieve the same here. All we have to do is overcome greed to do it.

Now that we have DonOld on the ropes, we need to turn up the heat some more.

Release the Epstein files. Abolish ICE. Bring back the tax rates of the 1950s. Overturn citizens united. Remove the cap on social security contributions, and make said tax also apply to capital gains. Big pay increases for social workers, teachers, museum workers, artists and librarians. Free childcare. Free university education. Forgive all student loans. 2 term limit for every political office. Mandatory retirement for politicians at age 70. Get rid of electronic voting machines. Eliminate the electoral college. Devise a standardized method of apportionment that eliminates gerrymandering. Minimum wage of $25 per hour indexed to inflation and adjusts annually. No federal office for a convicted felon. Pass the ERA. Root out all the corruption at every level of our government working from the top down. Put Congress on Medicare instead of the private insurance they have, and while we’re at it, Medicare for all, administered by federal employees without all the Part A, B, C, D etc etc - just Medicare without monthly fees, without deductibles, without copays, for ALL - Universal healthcare, with no direct cost to the individual.

We can do this. We have everything except the united voice. Make your demands, folks. Don’t be shy. Copy my list if you find that helpful, and share it everywhere.

Unite! Resist! Revolt! Rebuild!

From WSJ:

[Governor Pritzger] the “Democratic governor and possible 2028 presidential candidate signed an executive order to establish the Illinois Accountability Commission, an independent board that will focus on the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

The commission will collect testimony, hold hearings and gather information from individuals, subject-matter experts, local officials, faith leaders and others.

Speaking to reporters in Chicago, Pritzker acknowledged the commission won’t have subpoena power or the ability to directly charge anyone with misconduct or a crime. Still, he said, it is critical to build a public record.

“While states have limited abilities against federal immunity, we must remind everyone that this is not forever,” he said. “There will come a time where people of good faith are empowered to uphold the law. When the time comes, Illinois will have testimony and the records needed to pursue justice to its fullest extent.”

California has a bill that requires compliance by January 2026. Violation is a misdemeanor.

“This bill would, on and after January 1, 2026, require a law enforcement officer operating in California that is not uniformed to visibly display identification that includes their agency and either a name or badge number to the public when performing their enforcement duties, except as specified. The bill would make a violation of these provisions a misdemeanor. The bill would define personnel of a law enforcement agency as any peace officer under California law and any federal law enforcement officer. By creating a new crime and imposing duties on local law enforcement, this bill would impose a state-mandated local program”
