WASHINGTON — On January 3, the first day of the new Congress, Rep. Nick Lalota (R-NY) introduced a three-page anti-immigrant bill with an unwieldy title: “To provide that sanctuary jurisdictions that provide benefits to aliens who are present in the United States without lawful status under the immigration laws are ineligible for Federal funds intended to benefit such aliens.” Lalota’s so-called "sanctuary cities bill" is unavailable on Congress.gov, but we obtained the full text, which you can read unabridged here —
